Jenny and Chris were married this past Sunday afternoon at the beautiful Chart House restaurant in Redondo Beach.  Jenny previously worked under Chris a few years ago and the two remained friends after Jenny left the company. The two started dating shortly.

Jenny is a natural at posing.  I only had to give her a general idea of my vision and the rest was totally hers to own.

Some images, like the candid  capture below, was totally spontaneous. The pose is just the way Jenny choose to balance herself after putting on her ear rings.

I wasn’t sure if the pipes below were sturdy enough to support all those diamonds! :)

I was so lucky to discover the speech below written by Jenny’s niece. It was precariously hanging off the table. It wasn’t there very long because it quickly disappeared a few moments after the photograph was captured.

The Chart House is a beautiful venue with plenty of light coming through all the windows. I had to trust that my exposure was correct, because all that light does a number  on the camera’s histogram. With all the glare, you can forget about visually inspecting the the back LCD screen too. The photographs come out awesome if you can correctly nail the exposure.

Jenny & Chris:Abalone Cove Engagement

I spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Rancho Palos Verdes at the Abalone Cove with Jenny and Chris for their engagement session. The weather was in the mid- 80s and breezy. The beach is a park and ecological reserve teaming with starfish, crabs, urchins and fish. I did not see any abalone though.

Jenny and Chris will be getting married on Oct 25 at the Chart House  in Redondo Beach. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding.

The photograph below is one of my favorites from the session. The composition and their smiles are just pefect.

These two guys where just hanging out on the cliffs where we shot.  Nice fellas.

I noticed this little ledge on our hike back up the trail. You can really miss this little gem while huffing and puffing your way up. I jumped down low, careful not to tumble all the way down, and snapped this photograph of Jenny’s awesome red shoes.

Kathryn & Tom’s Wedding 04.18.09

Wow,  I had a blast at Kathryn and Tom’s wedding.  Everyone came to the wedding and reception ready to have fun and of course to witness the union between Kathryn and Tom :)

The story of how I met Kathryn is quite interesting. My cat, Misty, of 11 years fell seriously ill and I brought her to the local pet hospital.  I didn’t want to bring my beloved kitty to just any vet so I searched and read the reviews of all the vets within a 10 mile radius and decided on Dr. Scherer from the Warner Avenue Animal HospitalAddress:‎ in Fountain Valley.  Dr. Scherer was fantastic and is highly recommended by this pet parent. Well, the lady at the front office was Kathryn (she’s really a marine biologist and volunteers at the hospital) and she happened to be wearing a big rock on ring finger. We briefly spoke and I gave her my business card and went on my way to take care of Misty’s issues.  Kathryn calls me up about a month later and the rest is history, as they say…

Kathryn, wanted to make sure that we captured Tom’s expression when he first sees’ her book of boudoir images.  I think we all know what’s going through Tom’s head by the classic expression on his face.

Kathryn is quite the gifted bride. She made these cuff-links and many of the details captured throughout this wedding.

Wow, check out that rock by Tracy Allen Fine Jewelry, located at The Grove.  It’s a custom designed piece.

I absolutely adore this photograph of Kathryn at the bottom of the spiral staircase. I couldn’t have hoped for a better composition. The soft radiant light glowing off her gown and shoulders is perfect. We had just finished the getting-ready sessions and was heading to the lobby for some formals. I asked the wedding party to hold back a bit and had Kathryn walk down first and perform a little spin at the bottom. If I had to nit-pick, I would like to have liked to see that desk and notepad disappear.

According to Kathryn, she and her brother often fought as kids.  There are a few more consecutive action shots of their rock-paper-scissors game, and in every one that I captured, Kathryn had won! Better luck next time, Jeff.

The owner of this vacuum cleaner mysteriously disappeared while we were shooting. We had a bit of fun with the vacuum while the owner was away.
