Woah, what a day it was yesterday. Cindy woke me up at 6:30 in the morning yesterday, 05.14.09, to help her up and she noticed that her water had broken. We grabbed our birth bags and was admitted to the hospital a few minutes before 7am. Cindy was already having regular contractions that were 5 minutes apart, but she was still only 2-3 cm dilated. We waited until Cindy was fully dilated at 10 cm at 8pm until the nurses advised her to try and push. Cindy tried a few times unsuccessfully, but everytime she tried to push, baby Sophia’s heart rate dropped to very low levels. The Doctor suggested that Cindy get a C-section. It was unsafe to attempt another push, the Doctor couldn’t be sure if the umbilical cord had wrapped around Sophia’s neck or not. There are a number of reasons why Sophia’s heart rate could have dropped. We followed the Doctor’s advice and Cindy was taken to the operation room. I changed into scrubs and was allowed in shortly after.
It was a long and strenuous day, but the main event and star of the show arrived at 08:40 pm yesterday. And this contender in the left corner wearing no daipers , standing in at 18.5 inches and weighed in at 6 lbs and 12 ounces. Sophia and Mommy did well.

Sophia still in the operating room and getting her footprints. Mommy is getting stitched up after the C-section.

Immediately after her foot prints, Sophia started sucking on her fingers. We have ultrasound evidence of Sophia doing this while still in Mommy’s tummy! I guess old habits die hard…haha..

That’s proud ole pappa! A few of Cindy’s relatives stopped by and her cousin snapped this first photograph of me and my daughter.

A few detail photographs of Sophia sleeping in her grandmother’s arms. Cindy is still recuperating in the recovery room.

Oh yeah, friends and family, you may call Cindy if you wish, but I won’t be answering my phone today. I have to shoot a wedding from 4pm -10pm and will only accept calls from Cindy in case of any emergencies. What timing huh? I asked Sophia to be a good little girl and arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks!
